Hope is in the air, but let’s be careful!

Did you enjoy that brief taste of spring in mid-March? The sunshine and melting snow were just what the doctor ordered after a long COVID-19 locked down winter! Hope was literally in the air as our government announced that everyone over 16 years of age should receive at least one dose of the vaccine by la fête nationale.

As more and more Quebecers have been able to make an appointment to get the jab (or as we move up on the priority list), we seem to be sharing a collective sense of relief and euphoria. There is much cause for rejoicing as we move towards Easter, with the daffodils and the feeling of rebirth that spring brings along.

We have almost made it to the other side of this pandemic. That is reason enough to celebrate! But please, for all our sakes, celebrate wisely.  It is great to be able to pin our hopes on the vaccine, but the battle against the COVID-19 virus is not over yet. It takes three weeks for the vaccine to take effect, and don’t forget that you need the second dose for it to take its full effect. Even after that, it does not prevent you from catching or spreading the virus. It does, however, reduce your chances of getting sick and of ending up in hospital.

Celebrate Easter, but please celebrate wisely!

Enjoy the good weather, but beware of spring fever. We must not lower our guard, but we can appreciate all that we can do in our region. We can go to the movies, the library, a restaurant, even a spa! Let’s not lose these small pleasures that we are able to enjoy once again!

Please keep following all of the safety measures for our region. For full details, please visit the Quebec government website.  Enjoy the moment but please do so wisely! The Wellness Centre is here to support you virtually until we can all gather again in person. We’re in the home stretch people, so hang in there! Check out our line-up of upcoming activities on our e-calendar.

If you have questions or concerns, please remember I am here to accompany you on your caregiving journey.  I’m only an email away!
