Session 1 of 4: Become a thespian for a day as the Lifelong Learning room transforms into the Globe Theatre with a reading of William Shakespeare’s“The Tempest”. Each week, participants will choose a character at random to read aloud while our facilitator discusses the play.

The Tempest is a “bewitching play” and Shakespeare’s final piece of work. The story concerns Miranda, a lovely young maiden, and Prospero, her philosophical old magician father, who dwell on an enchanted island, alone except for their servants: Ariel (an invisible spirit) and Caliban (a monstrous witch’s son). The Tempest contains some of Shakespeare’s most familiar and oft-quoted lines and is a story of comedy, romance, and reconciliation.
