Dog days of summer are here!

Hello all, and welcome to August!

Even though we have had a pretty warm summer until now, the dog days of summer are still upon us. This sultry weather usually occurs between July 3 and August 11 but can last longer. If you don’t have access to air-conditioning, here are my tips and tricks to stay cool during these hot summer days.

  • Keep your fruit in the freezer…
I enjoy frozen grapes and mangoes. As my teeth are sensitive to cold, I leave my plate on the counter for a few minutes before eating them. It’s so refreshing!
  • And your moisturizer in the fridge!
Whether for the face, body or hands, applying a cold lotion to the skin can help you refresh.
  • Go to the movies.
This is probably my favourite trick. Movie theatres tend to be pretty quiet during the summer, and two hours in an air-conditioned room is exactly what I need to cool down.

The Dog Days of summer coincide with the rising at sunrise of the Dog Star, Sirius, and with hot and sultry weather.

I’m on holidays until mid-August

Please take note that I will be out of the office for the two first weeks of August to enjoy some relaxing time off, and I truly hope you can do the same. I’m planning a stay-cation at home and short day trips to Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean to visit family.

I’ll be back just in time for the next Caregivers’ Circle on August 16th. Speaking of which, I’m pleased to announce that the Caregivers’ Circle is getting a makeover this fall. Starting in September, we’ll be focusing each month on a new theme in the hope of opening up dialogue on more challenging topics. If there’s a specific theme you’d like to discuss during these sessions, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email at afortinmaltais@jhpartners.net or by phone at 581-446-7476.
