8-1-1 Info-Santé

You can dial 8-1-1 Info-santé (health info) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and choose one of three options:

  • Option 1 to speak to a nurse for health advice. If you are calling about a child aged 0 to 17 years, there is also a reserved phone line to provide a faster response.
  • Option 2 for a psychosocial worker for advice related to psychosocial or mental health matters.
  • Option 3 to reach the Primary Care Access Point (often referred to as the GAP) reserved for people who do not have a family doctor (see below).

Find a family doctor

First, register with Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF) to get on the waiting list for a family doctor

Get services while you wait to get a doctor

After you’ve registered Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF), until you get a doctor, two things may happen:

  1. A group of doctors could decide to take care of you. In this case, you may see a different doctor or health professional at each appointment, and you will still remain on the waiting list to find a family doctor.
  2. You can use the Primary Care Access Point or GAP (Guichet d’accès à la première ligne) to obtain a medical consultation or a health service.  You can obtain a health service from the GAP by phone by calling 811, option 3, or online by using the Digital Primary Care Access Point
