We’ll see you on Zoom for this talk about mental health, delivered by young people to young people.  Two youth speakers with Jack.org will use the power of personal stories and peer-to-peer connection to spark open dialogue about mental health challenges, support, and resources.

They’ll equip you, young people, to spark conversations, look out for each other, and end the silence around mental health.  They’ll cover mental health essentials, including signs of struggle, the role of the social determinants of mental health, self-care strategies, and talk about how we can be there for ourselves.

Young people are more receptive to messages they get from a peer, which is why all Talks by Jack.org are delivered by youth speakers who are trained and certified to speak to their peers about mental health in a way that normalizes conversation and encourages connection and support.

About the speakers

Meghan Henderson: Meghan Henderson (she/her) is a fourth-year Neuroscience and Mental Health student with a passion for helping youth access the mental health supports they need
and breaking down the stigma associated with mental health. She has lived/living experience with mental health and considers this an asset in her mental health-related work and volunteer
pursuits. In her free time, she loves spending time with her friends and family, playing with her puppies (Zoe and Ella), singing, writing, and more.

Charlotte Bayor: Charlotte is currently a student at Université Concordia in Montréal, where she studies biochemistry. Biochemistry and health related research is her passion and mental health is important to her, as she knows it has an incredible influence on people’s life. She is specifically interested in advocating for youth mental health, and hopefully helping nurture better mental health in the furture generations.

About Jack.org

Jack.org is a charity that trains and empowers youth to have a positive impact on mental health in their communities. They are working towards a Canada where all young people understand how to take care of their own mental health and look out for each other. A Canada without shame, and where all those that need support, get the help they deserve. With a national network of thousands of young leaders, they’re only just getting started.
