October brings lots of news for caregivers

As your Caregivers’ Circle Coordinator, I have been working hard over the past month to ensure that our services meet YOUR needs and realities. First and foremost, we will hold three Caregiver Cafés in October, in person and online. Be sure to check out our events calendar often so you don’t miss them.

I have also been doing my best to expand our grief and bereavement services. In addition to the isolation and stress brought on by the pandemic, I know that many caregivers have also had to face the difficult journey of losing a loved one.  I am a firm believer that the caregiver journey does not end overnight, and I am seeking to bring this philosophy to our continuum of services. If you or someone you know has experienced a loss, be sure to visit our new Grief and Bereavement page for caregivers. And remember, the Caregivers’ Circle will always stay open to you for as long as you feel that you need it.

October is always a time to be thankful. As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to remind you that it is possible to be grateful while still feeling other more unpleasant emotions about your situation, like resentment, frustration, or anger. As you enjoy the long weekend, hopefully spending time with family and friends, keep in mind that you do not have to make light of everything that is going on in your life. There is also room, however, for you to have some fun and feel some guilt-free joy. After all, as I mentioned in my last blog, it’s all about finding your balance!
