As the days get longer and are slowly filled with more sunshine, spring is often a time of renewal and optimism. It’s a great time to clean out clutter, perhaps start a new project, or make a positive change in your life. After all, it’s never too late to start afresh.
In our last e-letter, I mentioned that I would soon reveal a new initiative for our English-speaking 50+ population, so here it goes! I am excited to share with you that Jeffery Hale Community Partners has helped to create an Older Adults Networking Table. The mission and vision of the Table is to, “Work together as a Community of Care to identify and highlight existing programs and services, to promote health and well-being activities, and to provide opportunities for social participation, education and learning opportunities for English-speaking adults 50+ and their caregivers in the Greater Québec City Region.”
The Older Adults Networking Table is composed of active members of the English-speaking community and representatives of some of our key partners, including the following:
- CHSSN (Community Health and Social Services Network),
- Cummings Centre
- Jeffery Hale Community Services’, particularly its Day Centre,
- Lifelong Learning (LLL),
- MCDC’s South Shore English Network,
- Morrin Centre,
- Quebec City Reading Council
- Québec City Women’s Club,
- Voice of English-speaking Québec (VEQ)
I invite you to share with me any questions, comments or suggestions that you feel are important to you personally or to your fellow 50+ members of our community that we could discuss at the Table. Our next meeting will take place on Friday, May 27th, so I look forward to hearing from you by email before 3:00 p.m. the day before (the 26th): firstname.lastname@example.org
Learn all about Jeffery Hale Community Services
You won’t want to miss a free information session that will take place on Wednesday, June 15th, at 7:00 p.m. with France Gaudet, Occupational Therapist and Clinical Coordinator for Jeffery Hale Community Services’ Homecare and Special Needs team. France will talk to us about the services the CLSC-type services provided by the professionals of Community Services, as well as how to access services. Learn more by visiting the event listing on our website, or register right away to get the Zoom link.
To stay up-to-date with this and other activities, be sure to sign up for our monthly e-letter. Although many remain virtual these days, some of our in-person events have limited attendance, so learning about them early will help assure you a spot. We also invite you to follow our Wellness Centre page on Facebook. Of course, you can check out the Events Calendar on our website any time you like. The events in dark blue are for Well 50+, and the purple ones are for Caregivers. Fun fact! Did you notice that our calendar display the events on VEQ’s online calendar, so you can see our events on their calendar, and vice versa. Now that’s what I call working together!
I wish you all the best for happy and healthy spring, filled with renewal, and send you my sincere thanks for your continued support and participation.
