Getting back into the swing of things

As we enter into these last few weeks of summer, that back-to-school feeling is in the air.  Maybe your children are heading back to daycare or school, maybe you are going back to work, or perhaps you are simply settling back into a routine after summer vacation. Whatever your situation, we wish you and your family all the best in this transition period.   I know that, personally, I am looking forward to getting back into a routine, heading back to the office and hopefully crossing paths with some of you (either in person or virtually) in the coming months.

The Wellness Centre will also be getting back into the swing of things. We hope to open up again gradually to host in-person activities, following all the government-recommended safety measures in place, of course.  We miss seeing your faces and hope to see many of you in 2021-’22, but there is no doubt that things will look different at the Wellness Centre for the coming year.  We plan to offer a hybrid format for our activities, with some being in person and some being offered through video conference.

In-person, virtual, or a hybrid of both

Our EPIQ group (English-speaking parents in Québec City) is a great example of our hybrid in-person / virtual formula.  Last August 18th, a small group of volunteers parents met in person for a very successful EPIQ Planning Party.  They put their heads together (but still at a physical distance, of course) to plan a wonderful line-up of activities for you and your family in the weeks and months to come, some online and others in person.  Please see the EPIQ fall schedule here.

In September, at long last, our Baby Chat Café and or Café au Lait Crew will be back and fully in person!  Of course, we are crossing all of our fingers and toes that the situation in Quebec continues to improve and we will be able to continue with these in-person activities, and be able to add more to our roster soon.  On the other hand, we have decided to postpone the Take-a-Break Drop-in entirely until February of next year (2022). We feel that this particular activity is really best held in-person, and we hope that there will be less restrictions in place at that point.

On the 100% virtual end of the scale, our various parenting workshops will take place solely by video conference.  A virtual format is much more accessible for parents to access the sessions from home in the evenings, without the need to find a babysitter!  Feel free to preview our line-up for our School Readiness Series for the coming season.

Of course, you can check out all of our programming, in all of its various formats, anytime you like on our WE Events Calendar.

We miss you all dearly and are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Jessica Price, Family Matters Program Coordinator

Warmest regards,
