Welcome back to a more regularly scheduled fall

Hello everyone and welcome back after a much-needed summer break!  I hope you were able to rest, rejuvenate and recharge like I did.  I feel like the summer flew by, but I am actually looking forward to the cooler days of fall and a return to the world of « regularly scheduled programming. »

Fall Fest is back!

On that note, I am excited to announce that after a two-year pause, our partner VEQ (Voice of English-speaking Québec) will once again be holding their annual Fall Fest.  The 2022 edition will take place on September 24 at St. Vincent School, 995 avenue Wolfe, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This is a great opportunity to meet the people who offer activities and services to our English-speaking community, including a group of us from the community Wellness Centre.  Be sure to come out to see us. It is sure to be a fun-filled day!

September is a busy month, not only for kids heading back to school, but also for us at the Wellness Centre as we highlight World Alzheimer’s Month along with Arthritis Awareness Month. I hope that you read the piece about Alzheimer’s disease by my colleague Anaïs, our Caregivers’ Circle program coordinator, that she wrote in our latest Well 50+ & Caregivers’ Circle e-letter.

Arthritis can affect anyone at any age. Acording to Arthritis Society Canada, « one in five Canadians live every day with arthritis and there is no cure. »  With this statistic in mind, you surely won’t want to miss a virtual presentation on Tips, Tricks & Tools for Living with Arthritis, given by the Arthritis Society during the evening of Wednesday, September 28. To find out more and how to register, please check out the listing on our events calendar.

The programming of CHEP (Community Health Education Program) is also back in action.  The next CHEP presentation is called, « It’s okay to forget: An update on the fascinating subject of memory » to be held on Zoom at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21.  You will find all the details on our events calendar listing for this event, including the link to register (required).

Claire Quenville, Well 50+ Program Coordinator

Hope to see you at one of the above events, either in-person, or online.

Until then, I wish you all the best for a healthy, happy fall.

Claire
