Stroke, despite it’s occurrence being in decline, remains a leading cause of death and disability. Risk of
stroke is age-related, but there are modifiable risk factors. Counseling on lifestyle changes has
positive effects on reducing stroke recurrence and understanding the signs and symptoms of stroke
allows for earlier and more effective treatment.
Objectives
1. Recognize signs and symptoms of stroke
2. Learn about the modifiable risk factors for stroke
3. Understand available treatments and medications used in stroke management
