Every summer until this one the community Wellness Centre has overseen a very popular volunteer-powered program called Park Playdates (PPD). Parent volunteers take turns hosting informal get togethers in parks around our beautiful city. This year, due to public health directives, we sadly had to put this program on hold.
Great news though! EPIQ volunteers Grace Harris (mom of Sebastian and Penelope) and Amanda Heath (mom of Logan and Amélia) offered to put together a detailed online English guide to local Quebec City parks to help parents find some new places to enjoy with their children. They’ve even included photos and helpful commentary to guide you on your park discovery! Grace and Amanda invite you to add to the collection, if you wish. Check out the webpage Grace has created https://quebeccityparks.wixsite.com/mysite and start exploring our beautiful city one park at a time! If you want to add your favorite park to this site you can email me and I will forward your message to Grace.
On rainy days we invite you to enjoy some fitness fun at home with fitness coach Jarryd Smith (dad to Charlie and Billy). Visit our Youtube channel to see Jarryd’s Get Moving with the Animals Workout.
Be sure to join us this Thursday, July 9, for the next family workout with Jarryd happening at 10:00 a.m. Visit our Events Calendar for all the details. This workout will also be a great way to underline key concepts such as over, under, above, below, in front, behind and many other directional concepts your child needs to know before they start kindergarten, so be sure to tune in. Remember to email me to register and obtain the log-in details.
Hope to see you all there… In the meantime, have fun exploring Quebec City’s free parks, splashpads and pools. During this exceptional time, the city has put an effective system in place to limit the number of people at local pools. You need to show up in person and register to pre-reserve a 60 minute time slot. Why not find an outdoor pool near you and give it a try?
Stay safe & stay cool,
